How Weight Loss Works

FAQs

  • Who provides my medical weight loss plan?

    Your medical weight loss plan is provided by Australian AHPRA-certified health practitioners, including nurses, doctors, and dietitians. This ensures that you receive expert guidance and support from qualified professionals throughout your weight loss journey.

  • When would I not be suitable for your medical weight loss plan?

    Your practitioner will carefully assess your individual circumstances before recommending a treatment plan, the program is generally not suitable for certain groups of patients, including those who:

    • Are pregnant, breastfeeding, or actively trying to conceive;
    • Do not meet the clinical definition of overweight or obesity for their cultural background; or
    • Are over 75 years old.

    If your practitioner determines that the program is not appropriate for you, or if you decide not to continue, you will receive a full refund for your consultation.

  • How do weight loss medications work?

    Depending on the specific type, it typically works on a biological level to address weight gain in three key ways: by regulating appetite and acting as an appetite suppressant, reducing unexpected cravings, and helping you feel fuller for longer periods of time. Extensive studies have shown positive outcomes, making this a promising option for individuals seeking support with their weight loss journey.

  • Are weight loss medications safe for both men and women?

    These medications can be a helpful tool for both men and women aiming to lose a substantial amount of weight in a shorter timeframe. However, it’s essential to be aware of the possible risks and side effects that may come with their use. Common side effects include nausea, vomiting, dry mouth, constipation, dizziness, and headaches. In some cases, these medications may also lead to heart palpitations, irregular heartbeat, or increased blood pressure. Our medical team will provide you with a thorough consultation to discuss about the potential risks and side effects before starting any weight loss medication.
  • Are your medical weight loss treatments suitable if I'm pregnant?

    No, medical weight loss treatments are not recommended for use during pregnancy. They should be discontinued at least two months before attempting to conceive, and it is also not advised while breastfeeding. This is because of potential risks to the developing baby and limited available data on the medication’s safety during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
